Daytona Beach Shores, FL – September 10, 2025

A dramatic vehicle pursuit late Tuesday night ended in the arrest of a suspect after multiple law enforcement agencies coordinated efforts to stop a stolen SUV that fled from officers in Daytona Beach Shores.

According to authorities, officers with the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety initially located the stolen black Chevy Tahoe, which then fled westbound on Dunlawton Avenue before merging onto northbound I-95. Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (VSO) deputies joined the pursuit and successfully deployed stop sticks on the interstate, deflating two of the vehicle’s tires.

Despite the damage, the driver continued north on I-95, eventually exiting into a shopping center parking lot. There, the suspect began driving erratically in circles, striking two VSO patrol vehicles and a unit from the New Smyrna Beach Police Department.

Deputies quickly coordinated a vehicle containment maneuver, surrounding the Tahoe. The suspect attempted to escape by spinning the tires for an extended period but ultimately surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.

The driver, identified as Brian Blucher, 47, of Key West, faces multiple charges including:

  • Three counts of Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer (VSO)

  • Fleeing and Eluding

  • Grand Theft Auto

  • Driving While License Suspended – Habitual Offender (DBSPS)

  • Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer (NSBPD)

Officials confirmed that no deputies, K-9s, or other law enforcement personnel were injured during the incident.

The successful resolution of the pursuit highlights the coordinated response and tactical precision of the involved agencies. Further investigation into the stolen vehicle and Blucher’s criminal history is ongoing.
