Daytona Beach, FL — Valusia Mall is exploring a new addition that could bring a wild twist to its retail lineup. Rover Exotics, a specialty pet store focused on exotic animal supplies and education, is in talks to open a location inside the mall either by the end of 2025 or early 2026, according to sources familiar with the mall’s leasing plans.
The store, which caters to enthusiasts of reptiles, amphibians, and other exotic pets, would initially open without live animals on-site. However, the owner has confirmed plans to introduce live pets in the future once proper enclosures and permits are in place.
“We’re starting with supplies, habitats, and educational materials,” the owner stated. “But yes, we do plan to bring in live animals once we’ve met all the requirements and created a safe, engaging environment.”
๐ The proposed location is expected to be a mid-sized storefront near the mall’s central corridor, offering easy access for families and hobbyists alike. Rover Exotics would join a growing list of niche retailers helping reshape Valusia Mall into a more experience-driven destination.
Mall officials have not yet released a formal statement, but the move aligns with recent efforts to diversify offerings and attract new foot traffic. With the rise of pet ownership and interest in exotic species, Rover Exotics could become a unique draw for the community.
Local shoppers have expressed curiosity and excitement. “Even without the animals at first, it’s something different,” said one mallgoer. “I’d love to learn more about reptiles and maybe even adopt one someday.”
As negotiations continue, Rover Exotics is preparing for a phased rollout, with hopes of becoming a full-service exotic pet destination by mid-2026.
