South Daytona Elementary School has issued a precautionary dismissal update due to unfavorable radar conditions and lightning activity in the area. As of early afternoon, school officials confirmed that both the church gate and flagpole exits will be closed to ensure student safety.
Parents whose children typically exit through those locations are advised to pick up students at the front office doors. Staff will be stationed to assist with the transition and maintain order during the modified dismissal process.
To further protect students, the school has announced that all children will remain seated indoors in designated hallway areas until they are safely released.
