BUNNELL, FL — August 26, 2025
Leonard Fries Jr., previously arrested during a narcotics-related raid in May as part of Operation: Summer Slammer, has been rearrested following further investigation by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) and the State Attorney’s Office for Florida’s 7th Judicial Circuit.
Detectives with the Special Investigations Unit obtained two new arrest warrants on August 22, citing evidence from controlled narcotics purchases conducted during the five-month undercover operation that preceded Fries’ initial arrest. The additional charges had been pending the results of lab tests conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
Fries voluntarily turned himself in at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility later that day. He was charged with:
- Trafficking in cocaine (28 to 200 grams)
- Two counts of sale of cocaine
- Three counts of unlawful use of a two-way communications device
He was released on a $95,000 bond. These new charges bring Fries’ total to 13, including 11 felonies, stemming from the broader investigation into alleged drug trafficking activity in the Ormond Beach area.
Sheriff Rick Staly issued a strong statement following the arrest:
> “Hopefully, because of a thorough investigation by our SIU team and prosecution by the State Attorney’s Office, this poison peddler will eventually go to prison for a long time.”
Fries was originally arrested on May 16 during a search warrant executed at his residence, where law enforcement reportedly seized cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine, firearms, vehicles, and cash. He is also known as the owner of Lenny’s New York Pizza and Lenny’s New York Pizza II, and has entered a not-guilty plea to the initial charges.
