Former President Donald Trump has joined a growing chorus of critics calling on Cracker Barrel Old Country Store to reverse its recent logo redesign, which has sparked widespread backlash among longtime customers and conservative commentators.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before.” He added that the company had received “a Billion Dollars worth of free publicity if they play their cards right,” and encouraged executives to “Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again”.
The controversy began after Cracker Barrel unveiled a simplified logo on August 19, removing the image of a man seated beside a wooden barrel—a symbol many associated with the brand’s nostalgic, country-store identity. Critics described the new design as “cold and sterile,” with some suggesting it was part of a broader political shift.
The company responded to the backlash in a statement on August 25, acknowledging that “we could’ve done a better job sharing who we are and who we’ll always be,” while emphasizing that its focus remains “in the kitchen and on your plate”.
Trump’s remarks come days after his son, Donald Trump Jr., also criticized the rebrand, implying that the change was politically motivated. The company’s stock reportedly dropped by nearly $10 in a single day following the announcement.
