DAYTONA BEACH, FL — The streets of downtown Daytona Beach will come alive with music, pride, and student-powered joy at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, as the Academic All-Stars Parade marches down Beach Street to honor the students, teachers, principals, staff, and families whose dedication helped the school district earn an overall “A” rating from the Florida Department of Education.
Public elementary, middle, and high schools across Daytona Beach are invited to participate, alongside local businesses and community organizations. Schools are encouraged to bring their full spirit squads—marching bands, cheerleaders, floats, and student ambassadors—to showcase the heart and hustle behind the district’s academic success.
The deadline to register as a participant is Friday, Sept. 12. For more information or to register, community members can contact the district’s parade coordinator via the official school board website.

Unlike the News-Journal, we’re not just reporting the parade—we’re naming the truth behind it. This celebration isn’t just about test scores or state rankings. It’s about the late nights, the weekend tutoring, the cafeteria staff who know every kid’s name, and the families who show up even when the odds don’t.
It’s about the teachers who spend their own money on supplies, the principals who fight for every resource, and the students who rise above every barrier to make this “A” mean something more than a letter.
So yes, come for the floats and fanfare—but stay for the real story: a community that refuses to be defined by statistics alone.
