EDGEWATER, FL — The first day of school brought smiles, high-fives, and heartfelt community spirit as students returned to Indian River Elementary School in Edgewater. Local leaders and volunteers gathered early this morning to greet families and celebrate the start of a new academic year at one of Edgewater’s most cherished hometown schools.
Jamie Porter, whose coordination made the event possible, was praised for bringing together a team of enthusiastic supporters. Among those present were Jim McGinnis, representing Edgewater City Council District #3, and James Skinner of Sweet Spot, both recognized for their ongoing dedication to the community.
The morning was filled with positive energy as students arrived, greeted by familiar faces and encouraging words. The event highlighted Edgewater’s commitment to fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for its youth.
“Seeing the kids’ excitement and knowing they’re surrounded by a community that cares—it’s what makes mornings like this so special,” said one volunteer.
The hashtag #EdgewaterRunsOnDiezel26 continues to gain traction as a rallying cry for local pride and unity.
