Local Personal Trainer Arrested on Charges of Digital Voyeurism and Child Pornography

David Lee Van Moorsel, a 28-year-old personal trainer, was arrested Tuesday in Volusia County, facing a staggering 110 charges, including 40 counts of digital voyeurism, 40 counts of unlawful use of a two-way communications device, and 30 counts of possession of child pornography. The arrest has sent shockwaves through the community, raising serious concerns about privacy and safety.According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, detectives uncovered evidence that Van Moorsel had been secretly recording his girlfriend’s female roommate in compromising situations.

Authorities allege he distributed nude images and videos of the victim online, sharing and trading voyeuristic content through digital platforms. A search of Van Moorsel’s cell phones revealed multiple incriminating videos and communications related to the distribution of this illicit material.

Further investigation into Van Moorsel’s background revealed a troubling criminal history. In Montana, he was previously arrested and convicted for sexual assault after charges were filed for inappropriately touching a 13-year-old relative and allegedly watching another 13-year-old female in the shower.

Van Moorsel is currently being held without bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail as the investigation continues.
