Edgewater, FL — July 1, 2025
As the sun rose over the Indian River Lagoon this morning, George Kennedy Memorial Park was already coming alive—not with festival crowds just yet, but with the steady rhythm of preparation. The City of Edgewater’s Parks and Recreation Department was hard at work transforming this beloved green space into the centerpiece of one of the city's most cherished traditions: the annual EDGEfest 4th of July Celebration.
Crews arrived before sunrise, donning safety vests and bright smiles, ready to bring the park to life. Lawnmowers traced crisp lines across the field. Picnic tables got a fresh rinse. Shade tents were anchored into soft soil beside rows of budding hibiscus and palm trees swaying in the summer breeze.
“This day is really about connecting the community,” said Parks Supervisor Tasha Melendez, directing traffic near the boat ramp. “We want everything—every flower bed, every trash can, every banner—to say: ‘Welcome, you belong here.’”
And that sense of belonging is precisely what EDGEfest is known for. Scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, the event will feature a dynamic lineup of live entertainment from local bands, food trucks serving everything from BBQ ribs to gourmet snow cones, a kids’ splash zone, and a patriotic boat parade that’s become a hallmark of Edgewater’s riverfront charm.
City officials expect this year’s celebration to draw one of the biggest turnouts yet, thanks in part to expanded parking access, increased shade seating, and a dedicated shuttle service running from City Hall to the park throughout the evening.
The grand finale? A dazzling fireworks display launching over the lagoon at 9 p.m., synchronized to a soundtrack of classic and contemporary Americana. Locals say the view from the park's southern dock is unmatched.
“Every year we try to make it more inclusive, more accessible, and more fun,” said Events Coordinator Raynell Harris. “EDGEfest is where Edgewater’s heart beats loudest. It’s not just a party—it’s a promise to keep investing in our people.”
For those wanting to get involved, volunteers are still welcome to sign up for setup, guest greeting, or sustainability efforts like trash and recycling patrol. Community spirit, after all, isn’t just in the celebration—it’s in the hands that build it.
So whether you're coming for the music, the memories, or the fireworks that reflect off the river like glittering stars, one thing is clear: EDGEfest 2025 is set to be an unforgettable celebration of freedom, unity, and hometown pride.
🇺🇸 See you at the park.
